Welcome to the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Cork

The Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital (SIVUH) and Cork University Hospital (CUH) provides specialist Plastic Surgery services to the Munster Region. As the only Level 4 hospital and one of two Major Trauma Centres in Ireland serving a population of approx. 1.5 million, the unit provides a comprehensive elective and trauma service across the two primary sites, in addition to satellite elective services in Bantry General Hospital, University Hospital Kerry and Mallow General Hospital. Currently the department is staffed by 8 Consultant Plastic Surgeons, 5 Specialist Registrars, 1 Registrar, 6 Senior House Officers and a candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner, with funding secured for 2 post CCST fellows. The unit fosters active engagement in audit and research opportunities and simulation training through the Plastic Surgery Microsurgery Skills Lab in CUH.
